The United States has banned new Chinese routers over security concerns.
Starting March 23, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) banned the import of new Chinese consumer routers due to security risks. China is estimated to control about 60% of this market in the U.S.
The restrictions apply only to new devices, while the use and import of existing models remain permitted.
According to the White House, foreign-made routers could pose serious cyber threats and affect critical infrastructure in the United States.
A report states that vulnerabilities in these devices have already been exploited by attackers to target homes, disrupt networks, conduct espionage, and steal intellectual property.
Earlier, in December, the FCC introduced similar restrictions on the import of new Chinese drones.
